Safeguarding Policy

Passion for the Game is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all participants, including children aged 5-15 and adults participating. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of all individuals involved in our football training academy.

1. Legal Framework

1.1 Passion for the Game adheres to all relevant legislation and guidelines concerning safeguarding, including but not limited to the Children Act 1989, the Children Act 2004, the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012, and the Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance.

2. Responsibilities

2.1 All staff, coaches, volunteers, and contractors involved with Passion for the Game are responsible for promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.

2.2 The designated Safeguarding Officer(s) are responsible for implementing and overseeing the Safeguarding Policy, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring all staff are trained in safeguarding procedures.

3. Safer Recruitment

3.1 Passion for the Game follows strict recruitment procedures to ensure all staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children and vulnerable adults.

3.2 All staff and volunteers undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before commencing their role.

3.3 References are obtained and verified for all staff and volunteers.

4. Training and Awareness

4.1 All staff and volunteers receive appropriate safeguarding training upon commencement of their role and undergo regular refresher training to stay updated on safeguarding procedures.

4.2 Training covers topics such as recognizing signs of abuse, reporting procedures, and maintaining professional boundaries.

5. Reporting Procedures

5.1 Any concerns or suspicions regarding the welfare or safety of a child or vulnerable adult must be reported to the designated Safeguarding Officer(s) immediately.

5.2 Concerns will be taken seriously, and appropriate action will be taken in accordance with safeguarding procedures and local authority guidelines.

6. Code of Conduct

6.1 All staff, coaches, volunteers, and participants are expected to adhere to a Code of Conduct that promotes respectful and safe behavior at all times.

6.2 Any breaches of the Code of Conduct will be addressed promptly and may result in disciplinary action.

7. Confidentiality

7.1 Information regarding safeguarding concerns will be handled confidentially and shared only with those who have a legitimate need to know.

7.2 Confidentiality will be maintained in accordance with data protection laws and safeguarding best practices.

8. Review and Monitoring

8.1 This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect changes in legislation, guidelines, or best practice.

8.2 Regular monitoring and evaluation of safeguarding procedures will be conducted to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
